Obscura Rhapsody

Obscura Rhapsody is an ongoing monthly eBook serial written by Julio Angel Ortiz. It debuted on May 6th, 2015 and is published on the first Wednesday of every month in MOBI (Kindle), EPUB (supported by most devices), and PDF formats.

The first storyline is called Paths of Exile and will run approximately for the first 13 issues of the series.

Here is the teaser / blurb:

Five years ago a close-knit group of adventurers known as the Shadow Vanguard, each wielding a different facet of a strange power called Obscura, failed to save the city-state they swore to defend. In the cataclysmic aftermath, they buried their dead and went their separate ways into hiding, taking care not to draw the attention of the theocratic power, the Tai’Hiera. They vanished from history… until now.

A deadly encounter in the woods brings Khloe face-to-face with the former leader of the Vanguard, Aedyn, and together they embark on a journey.

For Khloe, it is the path back to her father, who lays dying on the other side of a lawless and dangerous land.

For Aedyn, it is the path to absolution, for the failures of the past and the unfinished business left in the wake of his greatest defeat.

But both paths are fraught with danger and intrigue. For the dark power of Obscura is anathema to the Tai’Hiera and their zealous Saints, and Aedyn’s broken former home harbors cutthroats seeking to turn them in for riches.

Aedyn and Khloe must begin to pull back together the shattered Vanguard, as a horror beyond their imagining begins to stir…
